Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy impressed numerous conservatives after he made a point on X on Tuesday to condemn the legal persecution of Enrique Tarrio and other people the government has gone after regarding the riot at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“This is wrong & it’s sad that I’m the only candidate with the spine to say it,” Ramaswamy stated on X in reaction to a post that among other things highlighted Tarrio’s lengthy 22-year prison sentence as well as the four suicides of peaceful Jan. 6, 2021 defendants that took place after they had been threatened with jail by agents of the federal government.

Ramaswamy’s remarks drew praise from some conservatives, including former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, "Good for you for speaking truth for ALL Americans."

Shortly after his Tuesday post, Ramaswamy’s campaign team put out a press release on Wednesday that promises a hypothetical President Ramaswamy will issue a pardon for all people who protested peacefully at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“America now has a two-tiered justice system: Antifa and BLM rioters roam free while peaceful January 6 protesters are imprisoned without bail. Biden’s ‘Department of Injustice’ has executed over 1,000 arrests for nonviolent offenses related to January 6, casting a dark shadow over Lady Justice and the foundational principles of our legal system,” stated Ramaswamy.

“To unify this country, I commit as president to pardon all Americans who were targets of politicized federal prosecutions and those denied due process,” he continued. “This includes all peaceful, nonviolent January 6 protesters who were denied their constitutional due process rights. I will end the weaponization of police power in America. Every Republican candidate must be clear about where we stand on the hard issues.”

This is not the first time Ramaswamy has moved to defend people whom he views as being politically persecuted by the left wing.

In June, the GOP candidate appeared outside of the Miami courthouse where former President Trump attended one of several arraignments and promised that should he win the presidency, Trump would be pardoned of any charges stemming from the alleged mishandling of classified documents.
