At a rally in Duluth, Georgia Thursday night marking the first 100 days of the Biden Administration, President Joe Biden was interrupted by a small group of "abolish ICE" protestors, the Daily Mail reports.
A small group of protestors interrupted Biden, shouting "end detention now," and "our families are dying," urging for the end of private detention centers.
They also held up an orange sign towards the front of the rally reading "communities not cages" that faced out towards the crowd.
In response to the disruption, Biden told the protestors "we'll give you a microphone," adding "I agree with you, I’m working on it, man, give me another five days.
"Folks, you all know what they're talking about. There should be no private prisons period. Private detention centers. They should not exist. And we're working to close all of them."
Amongst the slew of Executive Orders signed by Biden in his first days in office was one that would aim to end privately operated detention facilities. He ordered the Attorney General not to renew Department of Justice contracts with these privately owned criminal detention facilities.
Those orders never specified that they would extend to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency facilities that are currently overrun with people that have flooded over the southern border in recent months.
