Two Florida doctors were so frustrated to see a Trump campaign flag up in their neighbourhood that they pulled out a ladder, climbed up the facade of their neighbours’ home, and pulled the flag down. As they stole the flag, their young son pleaded with them to stop. “You’re going to go to jail,” he said. “Please don’t.”

When it comes to Trump hate, however, there are people, like this couple, who feel thoroughly justified in whatever action is necessary to take the man down. If that means stealing from neighbours and trouncing on their right to free speech on their own property, so be it.

The pair of gynecologists, Geoffrey Michael Fraiche, 41, and Laura Ann Webb-Fraiche, 38, had their children with them when they stole the flag. Trespassing and larceny are among the crimes of which they are accused. They were released from the county jail after their arrest.

Neither of the Fraiches have commented publicly on the incident, although Geoffrey Fraiche, an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida, notes that he is working on a media statement. One wonders what the possible justification could be for climbing the exterior of his neighbours’ house, with his wife, while their kids looked on, to commit property theft. Perhaps they will claim that “orange man bad” made them do it.

The choice to take their children with them as they staged this heist was questioned by local representatives. Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz took to Twitter to point out the “despicable parenting.”

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a powerful thing. Not even a global pandemic can stop it.
