WATCH: Russell Brand SLAMS Justin Trudeau for abusing his powers, painting peaceful truckers as 'racists', Nazis

"In Canada, the truckers have been proven not to have been Nazis," said Brand, referring to allegations made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the protestors were far-right extremists.

In a YouTube video posted on Thursday, Comedian Russell Brand dug into how the Trudeau government's use of the Emergency Act was unwarranted in the face of the Ottawa Freedom Convoy that paralyzed much of Canada's capital throughout late January and February of 2022.

"In Canada, the truckers have been proven not to have been Nazis," said Brand, referring to allegations made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the protestors were far-right extremists.

"I feel I saw Justin Trudeau coming on my TV set saying 'they're Nazis, they're awful...' Don't you remember that? I feel like people have their bank accounts frozen."

From True North, Brand reads:" Public Safety Canada officials admitted in internal updates that the Freedom Convoy protests were peaceful and that no violence was taking place despite claims by the [Public Safety Minister] Minister Marco Mendicino."

"These are internal documents," Brand clarifies, joking that they're things that "should never be shared with the public."

"Otherwise [the public] would go, 'hold on, you told us these were violent Nazis,'" said Brand, and while mockingly speaking as the Trudeau government, responded, "we had to... We thought, what could we say that people don't like? Well, no one likes violent Nazis... Just say they're Nazis but they're not! You can just say stuff and no one will ever check, they'll forget down the line, that loads of unvaccinated people lost their job... that loads of Canadian truckers were called Nazis... I don't know, there'll be a war or something."

"You mean like those Nazis in Ukraine that we're funding in a war against Russia? No, no, those Nazis, they're not Nazis, those are good Nazis," said Brand, again mocking the Canadian elitist attitude against the truckers and protestors.

Again, reading from True North, Brand states: "According to Blacklock’s Reporter, daily reports described the demonstrations as peaceful, undisruptive and stable... The Freedom Convoy so far has been peaceful and cooperative with police," an internal memo stated on Jan. 27.

"Almost no point in having them!" Brand again joked... What more could you ask for from a protest? They're stable, peaceful, undisruptive. Should these people be vilified? Should their bank accounts be frozen?"

Brand continued reading: "Up until Feb. 11, officials monitoring the situation stated that there were 'no major incidents,' that 'no violence took place,' that 'disruption to government activities' was minor, that 'there (were) minimal people" on Parliament Hill, and that the "situation (remained) stable and planning' was ongoing."

"Since most government employees are working remotely, the disruption to government activities is so far minor. There is currently no known end time for the demonstrations," the report states.

Reading from Blacklock's Reporter, Brand says: "In contrast, key Liberal cabinet members including Mendicino and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sought to paint the protestors as violent and even rapists."

"Justin Trudeau, you know he likes painting things," Brand said in reference to the prime minister's enthusiasm for wearing blackface.

"We cannot allow illegal and dangerous activities to continue," said Trudeau. "Occupying streets, harassing people, breaking the law, this is not a peaceful protest."

"Well," responded Brand, "according to internal memos, it literally was a peaceful protest. There were other protests at that time that I would be largely supportive of also, that was not subject to this level of scrutiny and analysis. We have to find a way to support one another across a range of cultural issues regardless of the demographic and cultural data, otherwise, these centralizing forces are going to destroy all of us.

"Even if you find yourself broadly agreeing with them at the moment, the day will come. Mark these words of mine for when you are the person at the end of the barrel, you are the person in the crosshairs, you suddenly find yourself tagged with the Nazi label."

In a tweet, Trudeau condemned the "antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Black racism, homophobia, and transphobia that we've seen on display in Ottawa."

"I mean, also," Brand said, responding to the tweet, "why would they be doing that? Why would you, if the point of your protest is [protesting vaccine mandates]... 'also, I've got some terrible views on the Jewish community, Muslims, people of color in general, gay people or trans people.' That doesn't make sense as a protest! How would you have time to focus on the key issue?.. We've got no time for stupidity in 2022."

Later, Brand discussed Trudeau's direct condemnation of so-called anti-vaxxers as misogynists and racists. "That doesn't make sense," said Brand, making the point that those who do not take the Covid vaccine do not have any inherent reason to hate women or races.

"To call someone a misogynist or a racist... that is hateful," said Brand, who made the point that the real emergency in Trudeau's eyes was that people were thinking for themselves.

Reading from the Wall Street Journal, Brand says: "The Canadian Civil Liberties Association [stated] "The federal government has not met the threshold necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act. This law creates a high and clear standard for good reason: the Act allows the government to bypass ordinary democratic processes... The standard has not been met. The Emergency Act can only be invoked when a situation seriously threatens the ability of the Government of Canada to preserve the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Canada and when the situation 'cannot be effectively dealt with under any other law of Canada.'"
