Anti-BLM protests in the Portland suburb of Gresham, Ore. turned violent yesterday when a male counter-protestor attacked a female wearing a MAGA hat, according to Newsweek.

The demonstration in question was a flag-waving event put on by pro-police organization Back the Blue in response to the Gresham City Council's decision to fly a Black Lives Matter flag outside their Town Hall.

Gresham may be becoming as polarized as the neighboring city of Portland, where protests turned riots have been going on continuously for over 90 days.

In fact, things have recently flared up even more in Portland as a response to the Sunday police shooting in Kenosha, WI, where protests and riots are also now taking place.

Shelby Walman, part of the flag-waving group, said in an interview, "When we want to peacefully protest and say what we want to say, we always have BLM follow us."

The Gresham Police Department has as of yet not commented on the issue to the media, and no information has been released as to whether any arrests have been made.

"The Council had a thoughtful and heartfelt discussion centered around keeping our residents and our police officers safe, and how best to accomplish that goal," said an official statement from the Gresham City Council after an emergency meeting last night.

The Council decided to keep the BLM flag flying, and commented, "The Black Lives Matter flag will continue to be flown, per Council's original direction, through August 31. However, the work of continuing to foster equity and inclusion within Gresham will continue, as City Council is committed to furthering racial justice within our community."

The woman involved in the confrontation was not injured. The man who was grappling with her was attacked with mace by another man, and was treated for his injuries at the scene.
