During a segment of CBS Mornings at a Country Kitchen restaurant, North Carolina voters shared that they were better off under former President Donald Trump than they are under the current administration.

“We were better off when Trump was in than we are today,” one voter said, prompting the interviewer to interject, “Because prices were lower.”

“Everything was better," the voter continued. "You got the immigrants, you got the economy, you got the wars overseas. We don't really feel like right now we have anybody at all looking after all this. We need somebody to take command."

“If we get Trump, we got hope. We get Kamala, we don't have any hope. It's gone. Country's gone,” Trump voter Les Hardison chimed in.

North Carolina is one of the battleground swing states that is crucial to a presidential candidate’s path to victory. A recent poll suggested that Trump is leading in battleground swing states among both early and likely voters. The state was particularly hit hard by Hurricane Helene and received inadequate and inept disaster relief assistance from the Biden-Harris Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It is also a state that Trump won both in 2016 and 2020.

The Harvard/Harris poll revealed that among early voters in battleground states, 48 percent have voted for Trump while 47 percent have voted for Harris. Among likely voters in battleground states, Trump leads Harris by 49 to 47 percent.

Another poll showed how Trump is moving ahead of Harris in swing states Michigan and Wisconsin while evening the odds in Pennsylvania. Voters questioned in this poll rated Trump high on the economy, immigration, and being commander-in-chief of the US military.
