President Joe Biden appeared confused while introducing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference at the Quad Summit on Saturday. As the event unfolded, Biden seemed uncertain about who he was supposed to introduce next, pausing as if waiting for a reporter's question before introducing Modi.

“Thank you all for being here and now, uhh, who am I introducing next? Who’s next?” Biden asked after concluding his remarks. An announcer then stepped in to introduce Modi, who proceeded to approach the stage and shake Biden's hand.

This awkward moment comes as the 81-year-old president hosted leaders of the Quad alliance—comprising the US, Japan, India, and Australia—at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. The meeting coincides with global leaders traveling to the US for the United Nations General Assembly, according to the New York Post.

In an attempt to inject humor into the interaction, Biden joked, “By the way, he’s from a small country like ours. A small population like ours,”  referencing India, which is the most populous country in the world with roughly 1.4 billion people. “He’s become a good and decent man. A good friend,” Biden added.

The Quad leadership summit is likely to be Biden’s last before his departure from office. At the event, Biden emphasized the strength of the alliance, saying, “Our countries are more strategically aligned than ever before,”

“While challenges will come, the world will change, because the Quad is here to stay,” Biden added.

Biden’s latest gaffe comes shortly after receiving criticism for having First Lady Jill Biden appear to run a cabinet meeting on Friday. The cabinet meeting was the first called by the president since October of 2023, and the First Lady appeared alongside Biden to address the White House's initiative on women’s health research.
