Data shows 43 percent of people between the ages of 18 and 34 would have a negative view of a date who favored the 2024 GOP nominee, compared to 17 percent who said they would have a more positive view, while 40 percent of daters indicated there would be no change, according to a new Generation Lab Poll.
When it comes to finding out about a date who favored Vice President Kamala Harris, 19 percent of Millennial and GenZ respondents said they would have a negative view of their date, compared to 32 percent who said they would have a positive perspective, while 49 percent said they would be neutral, data shows.
The poll shows a gender gap on the matter, with more women on the left believing a difference in political views would be a dealbreaker, whereas men who have moved more to the right said they are more willing to compromise.
45 percent of young women would view a date negatively if they voted for Trump, compared to 39 percent of young men. The percentage of people who said they would view a Trump-supporting date favorably is rather close, at 17 percent of men and 18 percent of women.
When asked about Democratic nominee VP Kamala Harris, positive sentiments also differed by gender, with 35 percent of young women and 28 percent of men stating they would feel good about a Harris voter, as per the poll.
A sample of 1,008 18 to 34-year-olds participated in this national poll, which was conducted between Oct. 11 to Oct. 16. The margin of error is ± 3.1 percentage points.
