Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has stated that the Green Party is "predatory" for opposing having males participate in women's sporting events. The comments from the progressive "Squad" member came in reaction to a statement from the vice-presidential candidate of the Green Party, Butch Ware.

Ware, the vice-presidential candidate on the Green Party ticket with Jill Stein, said in public comments posted by left-wing activist Olayemi Olurin, "I don't think that biological males should play in female sports. I think that it gives an unfair, you know, competitive advantage."

In response, Ocasio-Cortez posted, "Like I said. This ticket is predatory and people deserve better."

Ware, who was picked by Stein as her running mate earlier this year, has a history of anti-Israel sentiment such as calling for activists to "stab [Israel] in the heart." However, those comments likely would not have offended as many in the far-left base of the Democratic Party as the comment on women's sports may.

Ocasio-Cortez's comment drew backlash from many conservative figures who pointed out the irony of saying that it was "predatory" to allow males into the private spaces of women in sports, such as a locker room.

"It’s insane that she is using the word 'predatory' while fighting for literal predators to be allowed into women’s spaces," former PragerU personality Amala Ekpunobi commented.

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren also called out the statement in a similar fashion: "Predatory?!! Predatory is having a MAN in a women’s locker room or spiking a ball in her face!!!!"

As of June, two-thirds of voters in the United States oppose allowing trans-identified males to play in women's sports, per the New York Post
