A new poll from the New York Times has revealed that Biden has gained one point following Trump’s conviction in the New York City falsified business records case, but still trails the 2024 GOP presumptive nominee by one point.

The NYT/Siena College survey recontacted voters who had previously taken the survey in past months, finding that, after the conviction, 46 percent of voters would cast their ballot for Biden while 47 percent would vote for Trump.

This is a shift in the group of voters from April and May, where 45 percent of voters said they would vote for Biden while 48 percent said they would vote for Trump.

Trump retained 93 percent of his supporters from previous polling, with 3 percent saying they would switch to Biden and 4 percent saying they were unsure. And of those who said that they had voted for Biden in 2020 and wanted to vote for Trump in 2024, one quarter of them said that they would be sticking with Biden.

The poll was conducted between June 3 and 4 of 1,897 registered voters nationwide. This group of voters either took part previously in the Times/Siena survey of battleground states in May or the national survey in April.

In the wider field of candidates that includes third parties, Biden received 40 percent of the vote compared to Trump’s 42 percent. In the previous polling, Biden had received 38 percent and Trump 41 percent.
