Biden’s approval rating among 18-29-year-old voters has dropped 12 points in the last 2 months: CBS/YouGov poll

A recent CBS/YouGov poll has revealed a significant drop in President Biden's approval rating among young voters over the past two months, as this voter group continues to criticize the president for not taking a more firm stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In February, Biden had a 55 percent approval rating among voters aged 18-29, but by April, that figure had plummeted to just 43 percent. Additionally, his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict saw a decline in approval, dropping from 51 percent in February to 40 percent in April.

Senator Bernie Sanders weighed in on the situation, likening the conflict in Gaza to what could be Biden's "Vietnam." In an interview with the Associated Press, Sanders acknowledged the widespread dissatisfaction with Biden's policies, particularly regarding Gaza. 

“I understand that a lot of people in this country are less than enthusiastic about Biden for a number of reasons and I get that. And I strongly disagree with him, especially on what’s going on in Gaza,” Sanders said.

However, Sanders still emphasized the importance for Democrats to vote for Biden over staying home on election day and allowing former President Donald Trump to win another term in office.

“You have to have a certain maturity when you deal with politics and that is yes, you can disagree with somebody. That doesn’t mean you can vote for somebody else who could be the most dangerous person in American history, or not vote and allow that other guy to win,” Sanders added.

Meanwhile, Trump appears to be gaining traction among young voters, a demographic shift that could have significant implications for future elections. A recent Harvard Youth poll indicated that Trump received support from 37 percent of voters aged 18-29, compared to Biden's 45 percent. This marks a notable change from Biden's 23-point lead over Trump among young voters at the same time in 2020.
