A 13-year-old boy shot and killed a 10-year-old south of Edmonton and is facing a charge of manslaughter, according to CTV News.

The incident took place on Wednesday and Maskwacis RCMP were called to the scene at about 4 a.m. There they found a 10-year-old boy dead in a home.

"Due to the nature of the circumstances surrounding this extremely tragic incident, including the delicate ages of the people involved, we won’t be providing further details," said Staff Sgt. Dwayne Moore of the Maskwacis RCMP.

The older boy was still at the house when police arrived and was taken into custody.

The 13-year-old is set to appear in Wetaskiwin court on Sept. 2.
