"Fighter" also broke into the top spot of the iTunes charts in mid-September.
Baste Records posted a screenshot of "Fighter" reaching the top spot on Billboard, saying, "Fighter by Jon Kahn is now #1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart."
For the last few weeks, the song has been climbing the Billboard charts, hitting the fourth spot in the week of September 28 for digital sales. It also broke into the top spot of the iTunes charts in mid-September. "Fighter" was a collaboration between Kahn and Chris Wallin.
Wallin said of the hit song as it was released, "Working with Jon brought me back to the days when artists wrote and recorded songs that they not only loved but songs that represented what they believed as a person," adding, "Speaking for others through music is what true artists do. And that is what Jon is."
Kahn said of the experience with Wallin, "I've been in quite a few Nashville writers' rooms and this first write with Chris was truly effortless in that we were totally in sync as to what we wanted the song to be."
"It needed to be not only heroic, but human. Chris is a total pro and craftsman. I'm truly grateful for this collaboration on what we both feel is an important song," he added.
The lyrics of the song allude to the determination that the GOP has shown in the face of adversity, with lines such as, "I got bruises and broken bones, but they don't know, I ain't in this ring alone" and "I hit harder when I'm tired."
