The Conservative Party have sent a letter to the Lobbying Commissioner, requesting an investigation into "family member lobbying" officials in the Trudeau government.

The letter, which was c0-written by the shadow Finance Minister Pierre Poilievre and Ethics Critic Michael Barrett, asked the Lobbying Commissioner to examine "potentially unregistered communications between Rob Silver ... and the most senior levels of government."

Rob Silver is the husband to Trudeau's Chief of Staff Katie Telford.

This letter follows the August revelation that Silver lobbied for a change in the COVID wage subsidy that would ave benefited his company. Silver is not a registered lobbyist–posing serious questions regarding the ethics of his actions.

On top of this, questions may be asked over whether Silver used his Trudeau government connections to gain access to the government official.

The Trudeau government is currently facing multiple ethics investigations following the WE debacle.

Both the prime minister and the former Finance Minister Bill Morneau are being investigated for their failure to recuse themselves from cabinet discussion relating to the decision to grant WE a $900 million, sole-sourced contract.
