Matthew Livelsberger was an active-duty Green Beret serving in the US special forces at the time he allegedly detonated explosive devices inside a Tesla Cybertruck outside of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Livelsberger served in the military for 20 years prior to the incident.

A spokesman from the military said, "Master Sgt. Matthew Alan Livelsberger enlisted as an 18X and served in the active duty Army from January 2006 to March 2011. Livelsberger then joined the National Guard from March 2011 to July 2012, followed by the Army Reserve from July 2012 to December 2012. He entered the active duty Army in December 2012 and was a U.S. Army Special Operations Soldier."

The explosion killed Livelsberger and injured seven others. The explosion was contained by the Cybertruck's durable build. Livelsberger was on leave from his base in Germany at the time of the attack.

Livelsberger had served in Afghanistan as well as Iraq with the Green Berets, a commando-style unit in the US military that conducts targeted raids behind enemy lines and in foreign nations. Livelsberger saw combat many times. He was from Colorado Springs and had served at the military base as the New Orleans terrorist, authorities said. Authorities said on Thursday that there was no connection between the two incidents. Livelsberger had rented the Cybertruck via the Turo car sharing app in Colorado.

This is a developing story.
