While others simply said "aye" or "nay," the nonagenarian launched into a speech and had to be reined in by her aides, one of whom told her to "just say aye."
When her name was called to vote, Feinstein paused for a few moments before speaking.
"I would like to support a yes vote on this," she said. "It provides $823 billion, an increase of $26 billion, for the Department of Defense, and it funds priorities–"
She was cut off by an aide who whispered something into her ear, followed by another who told her, "Just say 'aye'."
"Ok, aye!" Feinstein finally uttered.
Feinstein has shown prior signs of not being mentally present while carrying out her duties, sparking a debate over whether the United States should enact age limits on politicians.
She announced in February that she would leave her position in 2024, after more than 30 years in the Senate.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
