"After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate."
Lara Trump posted to X, "After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate. I could not have been more honored to serve as RNC co-chair during the most high-stakes election of our lifetime and I’m truly humbled by the unbelievable support shown to me by the people of our country, and here in the great state of Florida.
"I have read so many of your kind messages and I cannot thank you enough. I do have a big announcement that I’m excited to share in January, so, stay tuned. I remain incredibly passionate about public service and look forward to serving our country again sometime in the future. In the meantime, I wish Governor DeSantis the best of luck with this appointment," she added.
Earlier this month, Trump stepped down as the RNC co-chair and said that would “seriously consider” the open US Senate seat from the state of Florida.
She told reporters at the time who asked if she was open to the role, "If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it."
Florida Govenor Ron DeSantis will appoint a new person to fill Rubio's seat, and aside from Trump's name, others have also been floated. A likely choice, according to the Floridian, is Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody. Other names that some have speculated about include Florida's Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez as well as former Florida House Speaker Jose Oliva, per the Tallahassee Democrat.
Trump, who is the daughter-in-law to President-elect Donald Trump and married to Eric Trump as well as a mother of two, helped to bring the president-elect to victory during the 2024 campaign. She is also the host of the podcast called “The Right View."
