"BIG news: @McDonalds is ending a number of woke DEI policies today."
Starbuck contacted McDonald's recently to let them know that he was working on a story on their "woke policies." It was only days after that when McDonald's announced that they would change their woke ways. Starbuck broke it down, saying that in hiring "They will END their diversity 'goals' for how many of each race they hire." He said that goals of this nature "often operate as quotas that discriminate against white job applicants."
"They’ll no longer participate in the HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index scoring system that forces the trans agenda into the workplace in exchange for a perfect score. They also won’t participate in other 3rd party surveys," Starbuck said. The famous fast-food chain is also intending to put a stop to the DEI pledge for their supply chain. "That means no diversity quotas or 'goals' will exist for how they choose or prioritize suppliers. Focus will now be on merit."
One area that Starbuck said was not amazing was in McDonald's changes to its diversity team. This, they told him, will be "evolving" into an "inclusion team." It's unclear exactly what that will mean in practice.
Starbuck has made a mission of contacting American companies and letting them know that he's digging into their practices. He's encouraged changes at Walmart. Car maker Toyota was less amendable to changes.
