"It's crazy to me because I remember back in June, I played here for about 20 people."
"It’s crazy to me because I remember back in June, I played here for about 20 people," Oliver said to enthusiastic fans as he opened the Lord's book and read Psalm 37.
The singer became an overnight sensation after releasing his new viral hit song "Rich Men North of Richmond" which is now the #1 song on US iTunes charts. Rich Men North of Richmond centers around a theme of the struggling working-class American being pushed around by the political class living in and around Washington, D.C.
Those in attendance at Anthony's performance were recorded on video singing the national anthem before the singer went up on stage and poured his soul out to the crowd.
Country singer and songwriter Jamey Johnson made a suprise appearance and joined Anthony up on stage. Johnson took over the mic to sing his Grammy-nominated song "In Color" alongside Anthony as the new hit singer played the guitar.
In just four days, the video of Anthony singing Rich Men North of Virginia has amassed more than 20 million views on Twitter, and millions more across other social media platforms.
The song highlights the struggles of the working class in America.
"I've been selling my soul, working all day, overtime hours, for bullsh*t pay," the song begins. "So, I can sit out here and waste my life away. Drag back home and drown my troubles away."
Anthony sings about the "rich men north of Richmond" who "want to have total control" of decisions in the country.
After his first live-performance since Richmond, Anthony spent hours in the heat signing autographs to his new fans.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
