Fox News revealed that Carlson’s last show was on Friday, April 21.
The decision to remove Tucker Carlson from Fox News’ lineup has reportedly come straight from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch.
On Monday morning it was revealed that Carlson and Fox "have agreed to part ways." Sources familiar with the matter told the Los Angeles Times that the decision to fire one of Fox’s well-known faces came from Murdoch with input from board members and other Fox executives.
In a statement, Fox News revealed that Carlson’s last show was on Friday, April 21. Fox News Tonight will be taking over the 8 pm primetime slot with a rotating group of hosts until a new show takes its place.
Fox noted that its channel "has also been the most watched television news channel for more than 21 consecutive years."
Carlson's show was frequently the top-rated show on cable news, often surpassing 4.5 million viewers per episode.
Many on social media stated that they were canceling their subscriptions to the news outlet, with "RIP Fox News" and "Done with Fox" trending on Twitter with Carlson now gone.
