According to the unsurfaced documents, McKenna travelled to Hangzhou for a three-day festival on climate change. It appears that this section of the documents was shaded in a possible attempt to redact the entry. The two Michaels remain as hostages to this day.
The documents also reveal that Justin Trudeau invited the Chinese army to train on Canadian soil. A decision that was later cancelled. In fact, on the same day that these documents unsurfaced, Justin Trudeau coincidentally tweeted regarding the status of the two Michaels.
"For the past two years, we've been working tirelessly to secure the release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor," says Trudeau. "We'll keep standing up for them and standing with their families," he concluded.
