“Why are you screaming at me? You know me. Don’t scream at me.”
“What is your message for House Democrats who are calling for your husband to drop out of the race?” a reporter asked the First Lady as she was leaving the shop. The reporter added, “How are you feeling about the state of the race?”
Jill Biden took pause and then scolded the reporter, “Why are you screaming at me? You know me. Don’t scream at me.” She did not stop to answer the questions from the reporters at the time before getting into a vehicle to drive off.
The White House had asked for reporters to come to the touring event on Monday, per the New York Post. However, the First Lady may have been surprised by the questions usually reserved for Biden himself, said a spokesman for the president.
Reports have shown that the First Lady is committed to seeing her husband go through with the campaign for the 2024 election. The incumbent president has vowed that he will not be exit the race and has demanded that Democrats on Capitol Hill unify around him in the race against Trump.
The First Lady has been known to be defensive of her husband and at one point in the 2020 campaign, told now-VP Kamala Harris to “go f*ck herself” when Harris attacked Joe for his historical positions on interracial bussing.
The First Lady’s harsh words to reporters comes as there has been increasing pressure for Joe Biden to drop out of the race. Her ex-husband Bill Stevenson has told reporters that the First Lady has been pushing Joe “to the very edge” during the campaign. Stevenson has supported the incumbent president in the past but is now a supporter of Trump.
