“You are the courageous generation. Own it. Make him proud,” she said.
Erika Kirk spoke at Turning Point USA’s event at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday night, where Vice President JD Vance was also set to address the crowd. The event marked an emotional moment for the organization, coming just six weeks after TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a campus event in Utah.
The Ole Miss stop was part of the group’s ongoing “This Is the Turning Point” tour, which has continued to promote conservative values, free speech, and Charlie Kirk’s legacy. The event drew a large turnout, with many students waiting for hours in the rain to attend.
During her remarks, Erika Kirk thanked Turning Point members for their support in the wake of her husband’s death, saying their presence had helped her feel connected to him.
“You guys are the heartbeat of Turning Point USA,” she told the audience. She explained that being on a college campus felt like a “spiritual reclaiming of territory,” saying that the “enemy doesn’t want you, he wants your territory. He wants your influence.”
Erika Kirk urged students to make a conscious choice to defend their beliefs, telling them, “At this moment, every single one of us has a choice to make: whether we stand for freedom or we’re gonna just fall for everything else.”
She described Generation Z as the “courageous generation,” saying Charlie “believed that to his core” and was passionate about reaching young people on college campuses.
“You are the courageous generation. Own it. Make him proud,” she said.
She also called on students across the country who want to start new Turning Point chapters to take the opportunity to express their beliefs and champion free speech on campus.
Speaking more about Generation Z, she said that the conservative movement being pushed by TPUSA can become "unstoppable" if young Americans put their faith in God.
"I just want this to be the generation that says, 'we will not apologize for loving our country first. We will not be silent about our faith. We will not back down when the world tells us to kneel, because we bow only to the King of kings.'"
She further expressed optimism during this time of political uncertainty, saying she still believes in the founding of America and that "our nation can heal." However, she warned that we cannot save a country "we're too afraid to defend."
"And when you get to the end of your life, will the Lord be proud of what you stood for? Will you be able to say that you ran the race and that you fought the good fight?" Erika asked the crowd.
"Or will you realize that you wasted your time that the Lord has blessed you with, chasing after things that didn't even matter? Hold that into perspective and remember: being the courageous generation that you are, stand up for the truth, defend life, love your family fearlessly."
"Love this country, defend her... and serve our God," she added. "Don't think it's someone else's role to do it. You do it... do it for Charlie."
