US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico with an active arrest warrant in that nation for murder. The arrest of Luis Bautista-Perez was made as part of a targeted enforcement action in Sterling, VA on October 12.

"Luis Bautista-Perez evaded justice by fleeing Mexico and hiding in plain sight in Virginia," Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told The Post Millennial. "Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE, this wanted murderer is off the streets of Virginia."

McLaughlin took aim at Democrat leaders who have scoffed at the Trump administration's efforts to arrest and deport criminal illegal immigrants from the country, saying, "Politicians like Schumer, Pritzker, and sanctuary politicians across Virginia protect these criminal illegal aliens over the safety of Americans. Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, this country is no longer a safe haven for violent, dangerous criminals."

Democrat leaders of sanctuary states have vowed to protect those criminal illegal immigrants in their state from federal law enforcement actions by refusing to allow local law enforcement to work with federal authorities. In Oregon, Illinois, and California, violent riots have been staged to prevent ICE agents from carrying out their work.

The government shutdown has entered its third week, following Democrats' refusal to sign onto a clean, continuing resolution to keep the government funded. Democrats and leftist groups have planned a so-called "No Kings" protest for October 18, and many suspect that party leaders will not consider reopening the government until after that nationwide event.

"The US Department of Homeland Security will not let the Democrats' government shutdown prevent our law enforcement officers from securing our nation from the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens," DHS told The Post Millennial in a statement. "ICE law enforcement officers—who are working without pay because of the shutdown—will continue these kinds of targeted operations to remove murderers, pedophiles, and violent criminals from our streets to make America safe again."
