Fentanyl 'released through air vents' at Ohio juvenile detention facility

Seven people were hospitalized on Sunday after collapsing at a juvenile correctional facility in Ohio due to fentanyl having been released into the building's air vents.

First responders were called to the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Training and Rehabilitation Center in Strkyer Ohio at approximately 8:30 pm on Sunday evening. At that time, the three correction officers and four inmates were found collapsed.

Further investigation revealed that deadly fentanyl "had been released in the air ventilation system," but as of the time of this writing, authorities are not sure how the drug got there in the first place, and are continuing their investigation.

According to the Daily Mail, " Chief deputy Jeff Lehman spoke to the press, telling the public that all seven victims are in stable condition and expected to make complete recoveries.

The center holds juveniles accused of crimes while they are waiting for their trials, and currently has a capacity of up to 64 inmates.

At this point in time, the other inmates have been moved to the adjacent Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, which is a unit for adults. They are being kept in their own separate area pending the conclusion of the investigation next door.

Over the past several years, the deadly opioid has been widely smuggled into US territory, and has ravaged communities from one end of the country to the other.
