Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is set to order flags lowered for the death of famous talk-show host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday.
DeSantis issued a statement saying that they are waiting for funeral arrangements to be made to give the order:
"I know they’re still figuring out the arrangements but what we do when there’s things of this magnitude, once the date of internment for Rush is announced, we’re going to be lowering the flags to half-staff," mentioned DeSantis.
According to local outlet Click Orlando, Limbaugh was a controversial but very popular and iconic figure who "ripped into liberals, foretold the rise of Donald Trump and laid waste to political correctness with a merry brand of malice that made him one of the most powerful voices on the American right." He was also a Florida resident.
Limbaugh was 70 years old. He died after a years-long struggle with lung cancer.
Gov. DeSantis has already released a statement, which has been reproduced on social media:
".@FLCaseyDeSantis and I are saddened to learn of the passing of fellow Floridian and our friend, Rush Limbaugh," said DeSantis, joining voices with other notables such as ex-Vice President Mike Pence.
Limbaugh had previously been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by then-President Donald Trump for his mastery of the dominion of radio.
