GOP challenger for New York governor Andrew Giuliani backs 'anti-groomer bill' for Empire State

"This is not about scoring political points for a party, this is all about making sure that our kids are not sexualized as toddlers," he said.

New York gubernatorial contender Andrew Giuliani would support a bill to protect kids from activist teachers seeking to indoctrinate kids with lessons on gender identity, sex, and sexual orientation in younger grades. This is in direct opposition to unelected Governor Kathy Hochul's opposition to such legislation.

Giuliani, the son of former long-standing New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, told Newsmax on Saturday that he would support a version of the bill for New York. He said that "we should not be teaching sexualization to our kids and 5, 6, 7, 8 years old," saying that as a father he agrees with the bill, as do 70 percent of Floridians, and a majority of the nation, according to Newsweek.

The younger Giuliani went on to comment that he feels that "we can't play politics with our children's lives."

"This is not about scoring political points for a party, this is all about making sure that our kids are not sexualized as toddlers," he said.

"I will always push whatever is best for New York's children! I will absolutely push similar legislation in NY that Governor DeSantis signed into law in Florida," he said.

Unelected Governor Kathy Hochul, who replaced disgraced fellow Democrat Andrew Cuomo after he was forced to resign amid eleven separate allegations of sexual misconduct, despite not being charged with any of those offenses once he was out of office, has voiced her vocal opposition to such legislative measures.

"To the LGBTQIA+ young people this bill aims to harm—we see you, we stand with you, and New York will do everything in our power to support you," she opined on social media, going on to describe the Florida legislation as "cruel and bigoted."

The governor's race in the State of New York at this point is anything but certain. While the state tends to lean heavily Democrat, Hochul herself is currently serving as Governor of the state without having been elected, and so she will have to face the public at the polls for the first time.
