Many people have been noticing a recent severe uptick in the number of posts on Facebook or other social media advertising services that get people into the US illegally.

One such post reads, "Travel to Mexico to the United States. Costs $8,000. 100 percent safe," for example.

"Cross through Matamoros. You walk one hour, after in automobile until you arrive to your relative."

Another post reads as follows:

"It's ready. 3,000 to arrive at the line/ 6000 to jump to your destination. Whatever state. Pay when your relatives receive you."

According to NBC News, human smugglers have been using social media since it came into being for this purpose, but instances are now increasing, as these people see the Biden administration as a way to take advantage of the increased hope of crossing illegally many people now entertain.

These people post regularly in Facebook groups created almost specifically for the purpose of helping migrants, mainly from Central America, reach the US and successfully apply for asylum, or just disappear into the general public, taking advantage of the "catch and release" policies recently re-implemented.

The pages have names like "Migrants from various countries in Mexico," and are also full of migrants posting stories, sharing information and asking questions on the subject. The tone of the posts is often desperate.

Facebook issued a statement responding to why these posts were allowed, and said that the posts were against Facebook's terms of service and that that type of content is removed as soon as it is identified.
