MOAB, Utah — US Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) enforcement operations have arrested 6 fugitives, at least three of which are illegal immigrants.

According to a press release from the ICE newsroom, the six fugitives were arrested in the vacation town of Moab, Utah earlier in February.

Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Salt Lake City Field Office Director Michael Bernacke said of the detainments, “Tourists in Moab can better enjoy their stay knowing we took six convicted criminals and fugitives off the streets."

The arrests included those of three illegal immigrants including a 26-year-old, 31-year-old, and 45-year-old all of whom have committed previous crimes and are Mexican nationals.

Previous crimes of the 26-year-old illegal immigrant include a conviction on charges of domestic violence, and "pending charges for DUI, drug possession, damage property, aggravated assault and drug paraphernalia."

The 31-year-old illegal immigrant of Mexico "has been convicted of four separate DUIs and failure to respond to a law enforcement officer." The 31-year-old will remain in custody of ICE pending removal.

Additionally, the 45-year-old has a pending charge on the "abduction of a mental health patient from a secure facility."

The press release sums up other work that has been done by ICE in fiscal year 2023, stating, "ERO arrested 73,822 noncitizens with criminal histories; this group had 290,178 associated charges and convictions with an average of four per individual. These included 33,209 assaults; 4,390 sex and sexual assaults; 7,520 weapons offenses; 1,713 charges or convictions for homicide; and 1,655 kidnapping offenses."

ICE insists that the public can report other crimes to (866)347-2423 or by filling out an online tip form.
