During a traffic stop, a drug detection dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a massive haul in the trunk.
According to a DOJ press release, Oregon State Police pulled over a vehicle on July 30, 2025, driven by Jesus Campos Roman, 29, a Mexican national, with Eduar David Freites-Mosquera, 27, a Bolivian national, as a passenger. Both men were living in the country illegally, were arrested, and are being held without bail.
During the stop, a drug detection dog was able to alert officers to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered massive amounts of narcotics in the trunk: more than 110 pounds of methamphetamine, five pounds of cocaine, and four pounds of fentanyl pills.
Roman and Freites-Mosquera were taken into custody and have since been charged by federal criminal complaint with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. They made their initial appearances in federal court on Thursday before a US Magistrate Judge and were ordered held without bail pending further proceedings.
The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in coordination with the Oregon State Police and is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Joseph Huynh of the District of Oregon.
