On Friday, Ohio Representative and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan subpoenaed Biden's Department of Education to produce records regarding the agency's involvement in the attempt to classify angry parents at school board meetings as domestic terrorists.
The Daily Caller reports that according to the subpoena, "Education Secretary Miguel Cardona is 'commanded' to produce documents before the Judiciary Committee on March 1, 2023, at 9 am ET."
As The Post Millennial reported, Cardona solicited the letter from the National School Board Association (NBSA) that equated parents protesting at school boards over issues such as radical gender ideology, critical race theory, and forced masking, to domestic terrorists.
The information came after a parental rights group, Parents Defending Education, put in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
The letter sent by the NBSA said that the Patriot Act could be invoked as a measure against outspoken parents such as those in Loudoun County, Virginia. Biden's DOJ then used the letter as a pretense to tell the FBI to conspire with local officials to crack down on the school board meetings.
The letter read, "America's public schools and its education leaders are under immediate threat," and the NBSA "respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance to deal with the growing number of threats and violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation."
It was revealed in an email sent to Fox News that Viola Garcia, the president of the NSBA and National Assessment Governing Board member, and NSBA executive Chip Slaven had discussed the issue of the school boards with the White House "for weeks" before the letter was sent out.
The NBSA put out a memo saying "We regret and apologize for the letter" after it became news.
According to the Daily Caller, Jordan sent letters to "Chip Slaven, former Interim Executive Director and CEO of the National School Boards Association; Nina Jankowicz, former leader of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) 'Disinformation Governance Board;' Viola Garcia with the National School Boards Association, and Jennifer Moore, the Executive Assistant Director for the Human Resources Branch at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)."
The letters were a final request for information on the school board matter before official subpoena would be sent out.
