"Ah transgender kids is a really harder thing. What's going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful," Biden said.
On Monday, a clip of Joe Biden's upcoming appearance on the Daily Show started circulating online where the President suggested the way to protect "transgender kids" was to "pass legislation like we passed on same sex marriage."
"Ah transgender kids is a really harder thing. What's going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful," Biden said. "I mean, it's just terrible what they're doing. It's not like, you know, a kid wakes up one morning and says, 'you know, I decided I want to become a man or I want to become a woman or I want to change.'"
"I mean, what, what are they thinking about here? They're human beings. They love, they have feelings, they have inclinations that are I mean, it just to me is, I don't know, it's cruel," Biden said to guest host Kal Penn. "And the way we do it is we make sure we pass legislation like we passed on same sex marriage."
In December 2022, Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act, which legalized same-sex marriage and interracial marriage in the United States, despite neither being illegal prior to the Act's passing.
During the signing ceremony, Biden said there were "hundreds of callous and cynical laws introduced in the states, targeting transgender children, terrifying families, and criminalizing doctors who give children the care they need."
"We have to protect these children, so they know they are loved and that we will stand up for them [until] they can speak for themselves," he added.
Biden mentioned Florida, a state that in November of last year banned child sex changes whether they be undertaken with drugs or surgeries. The guidance was first issued by state Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo and upheld by the Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine.
"If you mess with that you're breaking the law, and you're going to be held accountable," Biden said. Reduxx said the President "appeared to suggest federal legislation was needed to prohibit states from restricting the medical transitioning of minors."Join and support independent free thinkers!
