This comes as there has been a push from the Trump administration to crack down on crime and illegal immigration in Chicago.
Judge Heather McShain ordered both Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ruiz to be released on Monday ahead of their trial. The two cases have been joined together, however, they were driving separate cars on Saturday when both of them allegedly rammed their cars into the federal agents. Martinez was shot by federal agents during the incident.
This comes as there has been a push from the Trump administration to crack down on crime and illegal immigration in Chicago, but that has been met with backlash. Residents in Chicago have been attempting to obstruct ICE vehicles in the streets as well as going to and from a Chicago ICE facility.
According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security, “Law enforcement officers were rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars. Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the car. One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed US citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds."
Martinez and Ruiz allegedly followed the federal agents for 20 minutes in their vehicles before the incident took place. Sean Hennessy, the Assistant US Attorney, said that Martinez had a loaded gun in her car at the time of the shooting. During the court appearance, defense attorney argued that Martinez had a legal permit to carry the weapon, per the Chicago Sun Times.
The FBI has said that there are other drivers who were in other vehicles that rammed the federal agents that are still at larges and has offered $50,000 to those with information leading to the other suspects' arrest.

Judge Heather McShain wouldn’t know justice if it slapped her in the face, and needs to be FIRED.
