"I'm absolutely ready," declared Harris. "But thank God our president is in good shape, in good health, and is ready to lead in our second term."
The strong assertion follows a rise in concerns surrounding President Biden's cognitive state and physical health amid a recent increase in gaffes, blunders, and near-trips that could be fatal for an elderly man of his age.
Harris, who is even less popular in the polls than unpopular Biden, told a reporter during a recent interview that she is "absolutely ready" to take over the White House as the United States Commander-in-Chief.
The reporter asked Harris: "If he had to pass the powers to you for one second, one minute, heaven forbid...Are you ready to step into the role and do whatever the country would need?"
"I'm absolutely ready," declared Harris. "But thank God our president is in good shape, in good health, and is ready to lead in our second term."
Concerns about Biden's cognitive health have been raised throughout his presidency. Analysts have predicted that it's possible Biden might not be the Democratic nominee come November, and GOP presidential frontrunner Donald J. Trump has declared Biden's mental state a "threat" to the nation.
Earlier this month, Biden had at least five gaffes within a one-week time frame. Some of them occurred on the campaign trail while seeking donations for his reelection. Biden stated that he had spoken with world leaders about recent historical events, however, the individuals he claimed to have spoken with would have been dead long before these events occurred.
Biden also claimed that Donald Trump was the sitting president, and vowed to be president of both "red and green" states, mixing up the color green with blue which is the color of his own political party.
Further concerns were brought to the surface after it was revealed that Biden's physician would not make him undergo a cognitive health test. Former Democrat President Barak Obama, whom Biden serves as VP, has stated concerns about Biden winning reelection.
Despite Vice President Harris's extreme unpopularity, Harris told the Wall Street Journal earlier this month that "I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that."
Harris claimed that everyone who has observed her work "walks away fully aware of my capacity to lead."
