Lara Trump says FEMA could immediately redirect funds to hurricane victims after Dana Bash claims that is 'misinformation'

“Why is it that right now the citizens in western North Carolina are screaming for help, and it's having to come from local citizens?”

Lara Trump slammed Dana Bash after the CNN host said that it was “misinformation” that money the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) could redirect money it is spending on illegal immigrants to help Americans ravaged by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.

Donald Trump visited some of the hardest-hit areas on Friday in North Carolina and condemned the $750 per family emergency assistance package that the Biden-Harris administration is offering survivors. While Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said there isn’t enough money in the FEMA budget to cover all hurricane assistance, Trump said that much of the agency’s money has been sent to illegal immigrants coming into the United States.

Bash said that contention was “untrue,” but the Republican National Committee co-chair reiterated the Biden-Harris policy of providing just $750 for hurricane victims and said any money designated for illegals could be redirected “immediately” for needy citizens, the Daily Mail reported. FEMA has spent more than $1.4 billion on illegal immigrants in the last two years, it noted. Its website also heralds how delivering “equity” is one of FEMA’s top objectives.

Additionally, in a September 2022 briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre admitted that the Biden-Harris administration was dolling out funds to illegal immigrants.

"Why don't they have anything in order?” Lara Trump asked Bash in the recent interview. “Why is it that right now the citizens in western North Carolina are screaming for help, and it's having to come from local citizens?”

"In North Carolina I hear every day from people on the ground there, and they are desperate for help. It is a dire situation there,” she continued.

“The idea that we've spent $650 million in Fiscal Year '24 on the migrant crisis that Kamala Harris was responsible for stopping and by all accounts created by having an open-door policy at our southern border is infuriating. We could redirect money to help people immediately on the ground in North Carolina.”

“It is bad there,” Bash said. "But my question is about the misinformation, particularly the notion that they are moving money to, you say, undocumented migrants, which FEMA says flatly is not true.”

“A lot of the money that was supposed to go to Georgia and supposed to go to North Carolina and all of the others is going and has gone already,” Donald Trump said in Evans, Georgia at a Friday rally, according to the Mail.

“It's been gone for people that came into the country illegally, and nobody has ever seen anything like that. That's a shame.”
