Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has just declared October to be "LGBTQ+ History Month" and has told staff that they should celebrate and honor the history month in schools.

Officials with LCPS said in a proclamation that the school district "recognizes October 2026 as LGBTQ+ History Month in Loudoun County Public Schools, and encourages staff, students and the community to honor and celebrate the rich history and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to the Commonwealth of Virginia, our beautifully diverse county, and our schools during LGBTQ+ History Month and throughout the school year."

A user on X shared the proclamation from LCPS and said, "Loudoun County Public Schools just declared October 'LGBTQ+ History Month' and told staff and students to celebrate radical gender ideology. Thousands of Loudoun families reject that ideology and their beliefs are not bigotry, they are grounded in biology, faith, and common sense."

"A public school district has no business endorsing contested gender claims as official policy. Teach reading, math, and real history. Leave the rest to parents," she added.

Another user said in response to the proclamation, "There has to be some sort of revolt by parents. I'm sure there are plenty of counties in Virginia that aren't too far from Loudoun that don't share this nonsensical ideology. Either that, or start homeschooling your kids folks."

LCPS has consistently been under fire for LGBTQ+ policies. Earlier this year, the school was put under investigation after a transgender student was accused of recording over 40 boys under bathroom stalls at Freedom High School in South Riding, Virginia. According to 7News, the school kept the incidents under wraps and from the public.

Additionally, under former Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin's administration, the school district refused to follow guidance that transgender students should not use the bathroom of the opposite sex.
