Trump said on Truth Social, "We mourn the loss of three Great American Patriots in Syria, two soldiers, and one Civilian Interpreter. Likewise, we pray for the three injured soldiers who, it has just been confirmed, are doing well. This was an ISIS attack against the U.S., and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria, that is not fully controlled by them. The President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack. There will be very serious retaliation. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
style="font-size: 1rem;">On Saturday morning, Central Command stated that there had been an ambush attack by a “lone ISIS gunman” that targeted US servicemembers and partners in Syria. One US civilian serving as an interpreter was killed along with two US soldiers.

“On Dec. 13, two U.S. service members and one U.S. civilian were killed, and three service members were injured, as a result of an ambush by a lone ISIS gunman in Syria. The gunman was engaged and killed. As a matter of respect for the families and in accordance with Department of War policy, the identities of the service members will be withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified,” Central command stated.
According to the Military Times, those that were in injured in the attack were taken by helicopter to the al-Tanf garrison near the border of Iraq and Jordan. The attacker was engaged and killed after the chaos began. Several Syrian security members were also wounded in the attack.
