A crowd of President-elect Donald Trump supporters descended on Staten Island’s Holtermann’s Bakery on Saturday to give the owner and her store further moral support after The View cohost Whoopi Golberg falsely accused them of denying her service because of her politics.

“I mean, I'm so overwhelmed with the support from all over the world. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this is to my family. I mean, to think that I'm a fourth generation, and it's been in this family since 1878 and the support I've gotten from Staten Island and around the world is just so overwhelming,” owner Jill Holtermann told FreedomNews.TV. “I wish the rest of my family was here to see this right now, especially my father, my Uncle Al, my grandparents that I worked with. I wish they were here to see how this bakery has moved. Thank you so much.”

Trump flags, Make America Great Again hats, as well as a Trump impersonator were seen visiting the bakery to express their support.

The bakery is well-known throughout New York City and even though Whoopi Goldberg did not identify the store by name when she complained about her alleged treatment on The View, Holtermann explained what had happened earlier in the month, dismissing Golberg’s claims and explained that her order had merely been delayed because of some temporary kitchen problems.

Goldberg went to the bakery for some birthday treats. “My birthday dessert today was one of my mom’s favorites from when she was a kid. She talked about these all the time. They’re called Charlotte Russe,” she told The View’s audience. “It’s a sponge cake with whipped cream and a cherry on top.”

The incident united Republican and Democratic city councilors who rushed to defend the store and condemned Goldberg for messing with a family business that has been a favorite of New Yorkers for 145 years. The reason for the delay in Whoopi’s sponge cake: a 60-year-old boiler that needed to be replaced in early November.

Goldberg recently discouraged families divided over the election of Trump not to get together over Thanksgiving. “It might not be time to gather,” she told The View.
