Amy Schneider, a biological male who identifies as transgender and uses female pronouns, has been called "the most successful woman on Jeopardy." Schneider is set be the second-biggest winner on the show if Schneider comes out on top in the next contest.
"If Amy Schneider wins tomorrow's game, she'll break Matt Amodio's 38-games record! See all the records Amy has broken as she faces her next challenge," Jeopardy's official account posted to Twitter.

View on XThis represents a new milestone for Schneider, who previously has been touted as the "first woman to win $1 million on Jeopardy," despite not being female, and actually being a biological male.
Schneider's next win will mean that the trans Jeopardy player will be in second place overall. This is being hailed as a victory for women, though the first place all-time Jeopardy winner is male, and Schneider is also not female.
Schneider has a long way to go to break the all-time record. That record is held by Ken Jennings, the man who, along with Mayim Bialik, replaced iconic original host Alex Trebec, who unfortunately passed away on Nov 8 2020.
Jennings famously won 74 straight games of Jeopardy between June and November 2004, finally losing his 75th game to Nancy Zerg.
Schneider claims to be a "smart, confident woman doing something super normal." Schneider felt prepared to participate on the show, according to TMZ, but was not prepared either for the level of success attained in competition, or the ensuing fame.
