BREAKING: Biden announces Karine Jean-Pierre as replacement for White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki

In the announcement, Biden said that Psaki will be departing from the White House on May 13. She has reportedly accepted a position with MSNBC.

"I am proud to announce that Karine Jean-Pierre will serve as the next White House Press Secretary," said Biden.

"Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people. Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration.

"Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect and decorum to the White House Briefing Room. I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so. I thank Jen her service to the country, and wish her the very best as she moves forward," Biden concluded.

At the beginning of April, it was announced that Psaki would be stepping away from her White House role to pursue a position with MSNBC, where she will reportedly host a show for the network on NBCUniversal's streaming platform, Peacock.

She will also assume the role of being a voice on MSNBC’s cable network live programming.

Not long after the announcement was made, ethical concerns were raised over Psaki taking the roll, and continuing to finish out her time at the White House.

"I have always gone over and above the stringent ethical and legal requirements of the Biden administration," Psaki replied to a reporter's question. "And I take that very seriously. And as a standard for every employee of the White House, I have received rigorous ethics counseling, including, as it relates to future employment, I have complied with all ethics requirements and gone beyond."
