On Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie of New Jersey declared that he would not pardon former President Donald Trump if Christie were to win the election.
Christie appeared on “The View” and was asked by the hosts if he would pardon Trump if Christie would be the elected president in the race.
He told them that it would be the "easiest pardon decision [he] would ever have to make as president."

This comes after Republican primary candidates Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis both pledged in late December they would pardon Trump if they were to be elected to the office. Fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy pledged to pardon Trump back in June.
In addition to Christie's refusal to pardon Trump, he has gone so far as breaking the Republican National Convention Beat Biden Pledge that he signed by recently refusing to support Trump if the former president wins come November.
The pledge reads, "I affirm that if I do not win the 2024 Republican nomination for President of the United States, I will honor the will of the primary voters and support the Republican presidential nominee in order to save our country and beat Joe Biden."
In an interview on MSNBC with Mike Barnicle, when asked if Christie would vote for Trump in the election if he were to gain the nomination, Christie flatly replied, "No."
His refusal to support the former president, who is the clear frontrunner in the primary as of January, breaks the pledge that he signed earlier.
"I'm going to go out there and tell the truth. Like the truth matters. The truth is not negotiable," Christie told Axios. "I can't help him. No way. When you have the Jan. 6 choir at a rally, and you show video of it — I just don't think that person is appropriate for the presidency."
Earlier this week, all House Republicans in leadership positions officially endorsed Donald Trump's campaign for president in 2024.
