Ontario has reported the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in over two weeks, according to City News Toronto. As of Tuesday, this will mark the first time that the number of new cases was below 300, reporting a total of 287 new cases for the day. The last five days before, over 400 new cases were reported, in what seemed to be an upward trend.
The total death count is now 2,123 as an additional 21 people died Tuesday. Within that total, 1,335 of those deaths were in long-term care, reported Public Health Ontario. However the Ministry of Long-Term Care estimates that the number is closer to 1,538. The reported deaths have had some discrepancies due to delays in where and when deaths are reported.
Ontario's overall total of confirmed cases is now at 26,191 for the province with 76.2 percent of cases considered resolved.
The province still has much testing to do, on Monday, 9,875 tests were completed however the province is capable of conducting almost 25,000 tests daily.
The number of people who have had to be hospitalized with COVID-19, in intensive care, or placed on ventilators has all gone down dramatically.
