A group of Canadian children is stuck in Peru after the country declared a state of national emergency and closed it's border due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to CTV News.

19 children were on a school trip to Peru and now their parents are desperately trying to get them home.

These students attend the Country Day School in King City, Ontario, and now find themselves stuck in Peru's capital Lima with no conceivable method of getting home.

The students are all in grade ten and twelve, and are self-isolating in a hotel in the capital. Thankfully, two teachers are also present.

The concerned parents have been in constant contact with their children, and are also speaking to a number of politicians and civil servants in Global Affairs Canada.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Minister of Global Affairs has made it a priority to repatriate Canadian citizens. On Monday, Trudeau asked all Canadian nationals who were traveling abroad to come home—although, with limited flights, this is easier said than done.

Canadians who are showing coronavirus symptoms and are stuck abroad, however, are not allowed to fly back home.
