An Oil City, Pennsylvania, man was arrested on Dec. 20 for allegedly killing his girlfriend's toddler, hiding him in a canvas bag, and hiding the body in the basement of his home.

According to court records obtained by Newsweek, 24-year-old Trevaughn Lee Glenn Stribling-Jackson was charged with one count of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, concealment of the whereabouts of a child, and abuse of a corpse.

The mother of 2-year-old Keaton Morrison Caleigh Gladfelter, 22, told police she left the child with Stribling-Jackson on Monday when she went to work. He told her that the boy went to a relative's house when he was not there when she came home.

On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Gladfelter called the police to report the child missing after she found traces of blood in the house. Investigators found the body hidden in the basement of the house.

The report notes that the child appeared to have injuries on his face and head, along with a burn mark on his groin area.

After telling police that Stribling-Jackson had abused her son before Gladfelter was also arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of her son for not reporting it. She said one time she noticed bruising on his rib cage, but was told it was from the 2-year-old falling down the stairs.

Upon hearing about the incident, neighbors told ABC 27 that they weren't surprised. Delivery man Doug Homer said, "He was off, very, very off."

"The traffic and the drugs have constantly been at that house,” one neighbor noted.

Sadat Vay, another neighbor told the outlet, "She’s always had different transient guys there. People living in and out of there all the time so they’ve never been treated like neighbors because they never speak to anybody or what have you."

“We have children in our house so the fact that this is so close to our home. I don’t, I don’t understand. As a father, I have no words,” said Derek Clark said.

Both Gladfelter and Stribling-Jackson are being held at the Venango County jail.
