Numerous people walked into the Centre County election office in Bellefonte just after 7 p.m. local time.
Police evacuated a voting area in the battleground state of Pennsylvania after “disruptors” interrupted voting. Numerous people walked into the Centre County election office in Bellefonte just after 7 p.m. local time before the polls had closed, according to the Centre County Report.
The names of those involved in the disruption have not been released nor has any motive or political intent been attached to the incident. Local election officials have not commented on how they intend to ensure that those evacuated will be able to cast their ballots.
"Police tell us multiple people are trying to 'disrupt the election' at the Centre County election office in Bellefonte. They’ve ordered people out of the building and are moving them to another location. We’re on scene and monitoring the situation." Centre County Report posted on X.
Local officials haven’t said if everyone evacuated was able to return to cast their ballots when the election site reopened after 8 p.m.
Polls have closed in the eastern states and former President Donald Trump has taken an early lead by winning in Florida and now leading in Georgia and North Carolina. Some oddsmakers are betting on Trump defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
