Two Conservative MPs who originally endorsed Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown have shifted their support to Pierre Poilievre in his bid to become leader of the party.
As the Conservative Party leadership race heats up, candidates are fighting for the support of fellow politicians and voters alike.
On Tuesday, two former Brown-supporting MPs announced they were instead going to endorse Poilievre.
Conservative MPs Kyle Seeback and Dan Muys, who represent Dufferin-Caledon and Flamborough-Glanbrook, respectively, shared their endorsements via Twitter.
"I believe there's one candidate - one my constituents support - who can unite conservatives & Canadians to become our next PM," Seeback wrote. "That's @PierrePoilievre."
He urged conservatives to "put the divisiveness away" and defeat Justin Trudeau.
Muys echoed Seeback's sentiments in a quote tweet just hours later.
"I am increasingly concerned about the divisiveness," he said of the leadership race. "Let's unify behind @PierrePoilievre. Canada needs him & us to get this done."
Both Muys and Seeback had originally put their support behind Patrick Brown.
In April, Muys even joined Brown's membership drive across Hamilton as he attempted to garner support in the region.
Seeback, who has long been friends with Brown and supported him in provincial politics in 2015, was the first MP to give his endorsement after Brown announced he was running for leader of the CPC earlier this year.
Muys and Seeback's endorsements bring the total number of MPs on Team Poilievre up to fifty-six, nearly half of the total number.
Poilievre is currently the front-runner, as evidenced by his success online, at in-person rallies, and in the polls.
The leadership election is set to take place on September 10.
