US House Rep Hakeem Jeffries, a progressive from New York, stated his opinion what the verdict and sentencing should be for Kyle Rittenhouse, who is facing homicide charges in Kenosha, Wisc.

After a two days of testimony that to many watching proved that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense, Jeffries said "Lock up Kyle Rittenhouse and throw away the key."

It was in June 2020 that Jeffries said "End. Mass. Incarceration. Defund The Prison Industrial Complex." Now his preference would be to use the system he would like to defund to punish a young man who appeared to have acted fully in self-defense.

Jeffries also posted that "Police reform is essential work" as America's cities faced intense civil unrest for months following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. Jeffries had introduced a bill to the House to ban choke-holds, which was how Eric Garner was killed on Staten Island in July 2014. Jeffries also stated that he had no plans to advocate for cutting police in New York, saying that it had to be considered on a "state by state basis."

Rittenhouse shot three men on the night of August 25, 2020, which was one of three nights of rioting in the small city on Lake Michigan, nearly half-way between Milwaukee and Chicago. He testified in court that the three men, two of whom died of their wounds, were a threat to his life. Joseph Rosenbaum had threatened twice to kill him, Anthony Huber beat him with a skateboard, and Gaige Grosskreutz, who testified in court, advanced on him with a drawn handgun.

After the incident, in the fall of 2020, many prominent progressives in politics and entertainment made a comparison between former NFL star quarterback Colin Kaepernick turned BLM activist and Kyle Rittenhouse, who was in Kenosha that night trying to be of service to his community.

The collective group posted identical tweets reading "I want to live in a country where Colin Kaepernick is seen as a hero and Kyle Rittenhouse is seen as a terrorist."

Kaepernick recently compared the NFL draft to slavery. His position on this was upheld by progressive pundits, despite Kaepernick's career-high average salary of $19,000,000 per year.

Media and politicians were sure of their narrative that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist domestic terrorist vigilante, and in many cases that led directly to a complete misunderstanding of the case.

NBA superstar LeBron James, along with CNN pundit Anna Navarro, mocked Kyle Rittenhouse for breaking down on the stand when he recounted the events that led to the deaths of the men who were trying to kill him.
