The province of Quebec is warning its residents that they will not be able to provide emergency spring flooding shelters due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to Global News.

The Quebec minister for public security said on Tuesday that the province will have to entirely change their flood relief strategy. In particular, they will not open shelters, which helped thousands of residents last year.

As a result, the provincial government has instead asked municipalities to provide hotel room and university dorm rooms for people who have been affected by flooding, a move that will likely cost the province a great deal.

Municipalities have also been pressed with the task of providing catering and hygiene products for the flood victims.
