A 27-year-old Kansas man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed a woman at a park in what authorities are describing as an unprovoked attack.

Kwan Noble Trezvant is accused of stabbing 38-year-old Jamie Trumpp, leaving her with critical injuries. According to the Olathe Police Department, officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:06 pm, where they found the victim suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital for treatment and is now expected to survive, according to a report by the Olathe Reporter.

The attack was described by police as “completely unprovoked.” The victim is a middle school choir teacher. In the wake of the incident, members of the community have organized a meal train fundraiser to support her family.

In a complaint filed by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, prosecutors allege that Trezvant cut Trumpp in an act of attempted first-degree murder, which is defined as “unlawfully, feloniously, intentionally and with premeditation kill a human being, with the intention to commit said crime but failed in the perpetration thereof, or was prevented or intercepted in the execution thereof.”

Trezvant has a prior criminal history. In 2020, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of obstructing the legal process and possession of drug paraphernalia, and he was released on time served. In 2024, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery of a law enforcement officer, and he was sentenced to nearly four months in jail.

Trezvant appeared in court on Friday and is being held on a half-million-dollar bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.
