"To have a candidate come in and distract from the most special event NHFRW holds in the year is unprecedented."

The New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women (NHFRW) put out a press statement on June 22 that was critical of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The statement criticized the candidate for scheduling a campaign event at the same time as their fundraiser, the Lilac Luncheon. Trump is also a speaker at the luncheon.

The president of the NHFRW said in the statement, "The Lilac Luncheon is the preeminent fundraiser of the largest grassroots Republican women's organization in the state and funds raised go directly to electing... Granite State Republican women."

The luncheon starts at 12 p.m. with a VIP reception starting at 10 a.m. in Concord.

This town hall event, scheduled by the DeSantis team, is set to take place on June 27 in Hollis from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The letter states, "In keeping with our Bylaws, the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women is neutral in the Republican presidential primary, and we look forward to hosting all of the major Republican primary candidates over the course of this primary season."

"To have a candidate come in and distract from the most special event NHFRW holds in the year is unprecedented," events director Christine Peters asserted in the statement.

The statement concludes, "We would kindly ask the DeSantis campaign reschedule their Town Hall to not directly conflict with the Lilac Luncheon."

Some took to Twitter and voiced their opinions on the matter as well.

"The NHFRW is working hard to support Republican women candidates in the Granite state and it is inconsiderate of Gov. DeSantis to schedule an event at the same time as our event with former President Donald J. Trump!" Madeline Peters, the group's social media director, wrote online.

Another user named Kate Day, who according to Newsweek was NHFRW's public relations chair, strongly opposed the group's statement, sharing one of her own online.

Per the outlet's reporting, Day announced, "I vehemently disagree with the NHFRW statement released today regarding the DeSantis event. Although not consulted, as PR chair I would have advised against any negative statement against a candidate thereby violating our NHFRW neutrality policy for our NH First in the National Primary."

She then announced her resignation from the position with NHFRW as a result of its conduct surrounding the DeSantis Town Hall event overlap.

Both events are still scheduled to take place.
